Animate Your Life

Hey this is Stephen and I’m a huge anime maniac.  I watch and like all types of anime and I decided to start putting out my own reviews of series.  These are just my own opinion, like it or leave it, I don’t really mind either way.  Also I am always willing to listen to suggestions/requests about watching or reviewing any particular series.

Code Geass R2

Every week I will write a summary and review of each episode.  Also I will give my thoughts on what the next episode holds in store.

Episode 1

So after watching the first episode it only answers my question of who is still alive after season one?  Apparently one year has passed and everyone is still alive and on top of that there are a lot of new characters being introduced.  This episode basically just shows that Zero is reborn and has to start over from scratch.  Obviously a lot of people have had there memories altered and I suspect it is the emperor’s geass, but whether he intended for Lelouch to rediscover his powers or not, I don’t know.  I think it is deliberate because the Baron tracking Lelouch doesn’t know anything about his importance and knows nothing about C.C. even though he is trying to kill her.  The fact that the emperor sent them with this lack of info either means he doesn’t trust anyone with the knowledge of geass/C.C. or that he wanted them to fail.  The episode ends with Suzaku who is now a knight of the Emperor and vows to kill Zero.  Overall it was a great episode that I think has set a great pace for season two.

Opening and Ending

My first thought was the Rollo, Lelouch’s younger brother, is an agent of Britainia who is also monitoring Zero and will be trying to kill him.  I had to change this theory after watching the ending because in it Zero’s men had black devil wings, and Britiania’s forces had angel wings, but when you see Rollo he has one of each.  This implies that he is conflicted (my guess it has a lot to do with the heart pendant he carries around and the mysterious women associated with it).  I do believe that Rollo and Lelouch are related but not brothers (Same Father).   In the intro we get to see a lot of new knightmares with new pilots.  On a side note I noticed the one knightmare on the Britainia side was the using the cannon attack that was incomplete to the Britinia Forces in the first season.  Also you see the emperor does have a geass.  The introduction of the Chinese Union is quite interesting to me.  I think that they will basically be used by both sides and have there own agenda, in essence a wildcard that changes with each episode.  The other little detail I noticed while watching the intro is that Kallen is crying while fighting in her knightmare.  I think this implies that she is unhappy with serving Zero, but is bound to him for better or worse.
