Chris Sargent has spent his life studying philosophy, psychology, social work, business and computer science. He had dreamt of being a therapist and enjoyed being able to ssh into his home server to apply updates. He left when he realized that although helping professions attracted him he could only help so many people one at a time.
"To pay the rent keep food in my mouth and assure I have an adequate supply of toys I would have to charge my clients upwards of 75$ an hour of that 75$ I am only going to actually get maybe 20 after insurance and fees. So for what costs my clients over $156,000 I only end up making $40k a year. The system is ridiculous. Using the internet I can help millions of people while only having to charge them each a small fraction of what it would cost to help them in a clinical setting."
"It really took Jordin opening up my eyes for me to realize that i could actually help more people by writing down my advice and giving it to more people far cheaper than it would cost to give them the very same advice in person"
“How is a static information as good as a therapist of teacher?”
“Don't I need more than just general advice to help my problems? Even though each of us are unique individuals many of us face similar problems in our lives. Many common problems can be fixed by changing habits and taking the time to plan and set timelines and goals.”
“Even if I am slightly less effective an advisor in written word than I am in person, if I only charge a fraction of the cost personal visit would entail and give you the same information you would have received everyone wins.”
